Discover Bomdila Embassy - an unique boutique stay in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh. Check out my honest review of this place that will give you enough reasons as to why you should consider this for your Bomdila stay.

It was all good when we entered Bomdila. The cosy comfort of the car, coupled with the scenic views from the windows, masked the almost zero temperatures. The illusion lifted as soon as I stepped out of the car, and the icy mountain winds whipped me. My senses froze—but just for a moment—until I stepped into the warm threshold of the Bomdila Embassy, which was to be my home for the next few days.

The obvious warmth of the heating system was not the only reason why I loved this new home in Bomdila. There was more to the stay that made me fall in love with the place – the boutique stay as well as Bomdila town. From its pretty rooms with a view and amenities to the people and their stories – there was a lot to the experience of staying in this Bomdila accommodation.

In this blog post, I will share my experience and a review of Bomdila Embassy. I will share what I liked about the property and why I highly recommend it. I will also, give you information on how to book this homestay – rather boutique accommodation in Bomdila, how much it costs, what does the price include and more.

Why should you stay in Bomdila?

When you plan a Tawang circuit tour, there is no avoiding a stop at Bomdila town. Located at 8000 feet above the sea level, you will either cross it before or after you visit Tawang. For acclimatization reasons, it is recommended that you spend at least one day here before you climb to Tawang, which is at an even higher altitude.

The higher altitude also, means that you will encounter cold weather. Acclimatization also means that you need to have a restful sleep and for that, a good stay is essential in Bomdila. That said, Bomdila requires at least one full day to explore. From the museum to the delightful monasteries, viewpoints and market, there is enough to keep you busy. I have shared these in my blog post on Tawang itinerary.

Here is why I recommend Bomdila Embassy as an option for your Bomdila accommodation

There are no big hotel chains in Bomdila. If you search online on the usual Booking.com and other hotel booking sites, you will not find too many options. In fact, many good stays like Bomdila Embassy are not even listed on these sites, which makes it difficult for you to find and even gauge in terms of their reviews.

Hopefully, my review and experience will make it easier for you. Sharing my reasons for recommending Bomdila Embassy.

1) It is located in the New Bomdila town

Away from the hustle of the small town, the stay is conveniently located along a mountain. The location is such that you get the most amazing view of the old town on the other side. You can enjoy it while sipping a cup of tea on their lawn.

Right next to the stay (literally next door), is a new monastery called the View Point monastery. While I did enjoy the view from the Bomdila embassy, the ones here came with the peaceful chimes of prayer bells and swirling prayer wheels.

The rooms can only be compared to a star hotel.

At the moment, there are just 4 rooms available at Bomdila Embassy. Two of these have a twin bed facility while the other two have a double bed. Each one is quite spacious with a balcony and a view of Bomdila town.

The attached bathroom has its water heater (much needed). For me, the best part of these rooms was the beds equipped with electric mattresses. I don’t know if I could have survived without these. While there is a room heater and the beds have warm comforters, I know from my experiences in Ladakh that I would not have gotten as fitful a sleep as I did during my 3 days in Bomdila.

Just the electric mattresses – add a big star to my experience at this Bomdila boutique stay. Quite like the hotel rooms, these too, have a coffee table, writing desks and wardrobes. What else does one need!

On a cold evening as I entered this stay, I was greeted with a piping hot cup of tea, served with the warmest smile. This stay is owned by Sange of Holiday Scout and his family, which consists of his mom and two sisters. They, in fact, stay on a different level in the same property.

From sharing delightful stories from their life to tips on what can be done during our Arunachal trip, they kept us engaged during our free time and meals. Each one of them in their own way ensured that I was comfortable. The even anticipate what you will need for your journey and keep it ready for you – from hot water to snacks.

On the day we left Bomdila, Sange’s mom wished us a “Bon Voyage” with a traditional Khata (scarf) – a local tradition that symbolizes safe and good vibes for the wearer.

This is the best place to have your fill of Arunachal Pradesh cuisine. Every meal is carefully thought of – and in fact, even pre-approved for the guests. From the tangy Shakshuka (eggs with tomatoes) for breakfast to phing (glass noodles with a vegetable) and Tingmo (the local bread)- everything is freshly made. Some of the ingredients like mountain Spinach or Laipata is in fact, grown in their own backyard.

To ensure that you are left hungry, there is always regular food like Rotis and Rice. And of course, a hot cup of tea or coffee is almost always available.

Among all the local meals that I had on my Tawang trip, I would rate the meals at Bomdila Embassy the best.

It is a boutique stay as well as a home stay

At first glance, the open kitchen and the gorgeous drawing room made me feel as if I had entered a classy home. Tastefully decorated with local artifacts and yet contemporary in its feel, the vibes were that of a luxury hotel. Enter the room and the hotel feels double, till you meet the most cheerful and down-to-earth hosts that bring you back to the fact that this is a home.

I guess, the term Boutique stay does do justice to this place, which is as good as a hotel and even better than a regular home-stay.
