Bangalore – the IT capital of India and the Garden city of India, is a destination for business travelers as well as the tourists. Being a Bangalorean myself, I get this question quite often from various visitors – “Where are some good, reasonable hotels in Bangalore?” With this post, I hope to attempt to explain this crazy Bangalore town and give these visitors some pointers on what they should consider when they are selecting Bangalore Hotels?

Tip 1- Business or Tourist

Are you a business visitor or are you a tourist? Your choice of hotels in Bangalore can be largely influenced by this – and not because of rates or the kind of amenities but owing to the sheer time taken to cover distances in Bangalore. Bangalore may not be a huge city but the traffic on the road makes it quite crazy to travel from one corner of Bangalore to the other. Also, the public transport in Bangalore is still evolving, making it further a constraint.

If you are a tourist, pick hotels in Central Bangalore as in MG Road, Brigade Road,  Dickenson Road or Infantry road. These Bangalore hotels are quite central to the various attractions within the city as well as have a good connectivity by way of availability of transport to the rest of Bangalore.

If you are a business visitor and likely, an IT client, then do your hotel bookings in Bangalore, based on which area your business location is in. Likely it would be close to Tech park and most of these tech areas like Whitefield, Sarjapur, Electronic city  have a great choice of hotels for your stay.

Tip 2 – Period of Stay

How long are you planning to stay in Bangalore? Likely if you are an expat business visitor, you are here for a long span. If so, you may want to explore something other than the traditional hotels in Bangalore, which are not just convenient but affordable and comfortable. Bangalore offers a plethora of service apartments, which are well-maintained, conveniently located in the key business areas. These are easily available on online for bookings.

Tip 3 – Bangalore hotels for a Stopover or Stayover

Bangalore is often, a stopover for other tourist destinations like Mysore, Belur-Halebid , Ooty etc. A lot of visitors come into Bangalore with the intention of keeping it a central location to visit all these places. If you are one such visitors, check out for Bangalore hotels around the main Bus stand or railway station in areas like Gandhinagar and Seshadripuram. These areas have an easy access to tourist buses and trains that link the other tourist destinations.

Airport in Bangalore is on the outskirts and while there are quite a few good hotels in Yelhanka , near Bangalore airport, this area makes sense if you are going to air travel out regularly or if your business office is in this area.

All in all, hotels in Bangalore are very well-equipped and have some good amenities and service. You can pick from hotels like the Taj, which have an access to a golf course to hotels like Zuri, located in the business districts. So, go ahead and make a choice. Have a pleasant stay in Bangalore.
